Needs Analysis: We can provide a free consultation that will identify target areas that are impacting your work comp costs through: discussion of your OSHA log and interview with your safety/risk management team.

Work Risk Analysis: This comprehensive approach will identify all of the issues at your worksite that are impacting your costs.  We will spend a half-day interviewing the key players, analyzing your OSHA log and your current policies and procedures from claims reporting to restricted duty and return to work.  We go onsite to analyze ergonomic, as well as, work practices that are putting workers at risk for developing musculosketal disorders.  As industrial therapists, we bring a comprehensive perspective to this analysis.  SWS will then provide a thorough easy to read report with specific cost effective recommendations that will decrease your costs.  Click here for SAMPLE REPORT.  This minimal investment of $800 is the most cost effective place to start.

Functional Job Analysis: We can establish a detailed objective measurement of the functions/physical demands of each specific job.  We quantify job requirements using weights, measurements, time, and kinesiological analysis.  We document these in an easy to read grid format.  FJA's are a vital part of an effective return to work program, and can be used in conjuction with functional capacity evaluations and in litigation issues.  This will relieve the stress of placing restricted workers.

EDUCATION

Management Training:  We provide the No-Lost-Time education program including the Neck-Arm School and/or the Low Back School.  The management and supervisor portion goes deep into the causes for high work comp costs and teaches specific steps management can take to reduce these costs.  We will make each supervisor an "expert" on reducing lost time work comp claims.  The number one factor determining the cost of a claim is... supervisor attitudes.  Negative attitudes are caused by misunderstanding and lead to a "Culture of Conflict."  Misunderstanding can be cured with the right education, which will then cure the bad attitudes.

Employee Education: The Aging workforce is the next big obstacle in work comp claims.  We provide "Working Smart for the (aging) Workplace Athlete."  An educational program including the Neck-Arm School and/or the Low Back School.  The employee portion goes deep (but not too deep) into the anatomy, effects of aging and work practices (beyond ergonomics) that lead to musculoskelatal discomfort, and what simple steps can be taken by the employee to prevent fatigue and discomfort.  We will make each employee an "expert" on how to take care of themselves and improve their work practices for prevention.  We teach them a 90 second "Micro-stretching" program that when done 4 times/day has been proven to reduce discomfort and fatigue.  This will decrease risk for injury, and will actually improve productivity.

INTERVENTION

 On-site Therapy:  You provide a small space, and we provide the rest to make an expert, efficient, experienced on-site PT/OTclinic to handle the treatment of your musculoskelatal disorder claims.  We have an innovative and effective approach to such conditions as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Low Back Pain and other  MSD conditions that has been effective in reducing the need for surgical intervention.  On-site therapy has been proven to reduce costs, improve productivity, and decrease lost time.

Return to Work Program: We can provide an objective return to work program, or provide training to your staff for the program.  Utilizing the Functional Job Analysis, we take the guess work out of the process of returning employees to work with restrictions earlier and reducing lost time.

Work Risk Reduction:  We have an array of services to reduce the risk of injury.  We can provide early symptom identification and management, on-site worker consultation to follow-up the No Lost-Time education, and make cost effective recommendations for work site ergonomics and specific work practice modifications to reduce injury risk.
